I don't know about you, but it sure seems like more and more folks are having Barn Weddings and I, for one, am happy about that. Weddings are generally fun affairs, to be sure, but when you have the event in the country, on a farm, or outdoors, that fun multiplies. As a wedding photographer, it's also a bonus as the options for backdrops and scenery are limitless and, because of being outside and having more light, I'm able to shoot at higher shutter speeds and lower ISOs ensuring I'm not missing the action.
Earlier this summer I shot Brett and Colleen's wedding at Pheasant Valley Barn near Brooklyn, WI.
The sprawling grounds perched on a bit of a ridge, provided a 360 degree view to a wonderfully bucolic landscape.
An old shed next to the barn was a great spot to stage a first look...
A sunflower field is an excellent backdrop for this wedding party shot.
And this ancient oak tree proved the perfect setting for Wine Guy Photography's largest family photo to date (57!!).
Seems like if you are having a barn wedding, there are other cool things going on too... like bubbles for the little kids... and Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream for the bigger kids... :-)
At a barn wedding you save the best part for last... The Barn Dance. Strings of lights, a kick ass band, and a rollicking good time into the wee hours.
